Three reservoirs, national forests and state parks, and area ski resorts allow visitors to spread out and explore this pristine location. With several activities taking center stage each season, anytime is a good time to visit Heber City.

Summer

Boating and Fishing
Located north of Heber City, Jordanelle Reservoir is a haven for swimmers, anglers and boaters, while Deer Creek Reservoir’s warm waters provide excellent year-round fishing and its canyon winds propel sailboats and wind surfers. A fly fishing destination, the Provo River cuts through Heber Valley and supports big browns and rainbows.

Hiking, Backpacking and Camping
17,000 miles of trails are located within Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. A mixture of multi-use and non-motorized trails, ranging in difficulty, offer excellent family day hikes as well as challenging wilderness routes. More than 50 designated campgrounds alone are located in the Heber-Kamas Ranger District of Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest, not to mention additional backcountry camping locations.

Tours
Scenic aerial tours provide panoramic views of the lush alpine landscape and local outfitters take travelers on guided horseback rides, fishing trips, rafting adventures, and ATV/ORV tours.

Scenic Drives
Take Alpine Scenic Backway through forests around Mt. Timpanogos or drive 25 glorious miles down Cascade Spring Scenic Backway with views of Heber Valley. For those who like a bumpy ride, Guardsman Pass Road runs on a dirt road between Big Cottonwood Canyon and Park City.

Winter

Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding
Eight area ski resorts are within an hour's drive of Heber City. Tackle the slopes at Deer Valley Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons and many more.

Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Snowshoe or cross-country ski in state and national forest or challenge yourself at Soldier Hollow, a 2002 Olympic Winter Games venue.
