Overview
The majestic Timpanagos mountains and nearby Wasatch Mountain State Park provide the setting for year-round, family friendly play at Soldier Hollow near Heber, Utah. There’s cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, a biathlon shooting range and snowtubing in the winter; hiking, running, mountain biking and golfing in the summer. The non-profit foundation which runs Soldier Hollow inspires junior athletes to pursue their dreams of Nordic competition with intensive youth programs.
Sign up for classes, rent gear or grab a snack in the base lodge before suiting up. Then head back inside to warm up by the fire after your day is done. Both Midway and Heber have a variety of lodging and dining options if you choose to stay in the area.
Location
Soldier Hollow is 53 miles northeast of Salt Lake City and 30 minutes south of Park City. Head east on U.S. 40 past Jordanelle Reservoir. In Heber, turn right on State Road 113 (100 South) to Midway. Turn left on 113 in Midway. In two miles, turn right just before the railroad tracks and follow signs to Soldier Hollow.
Season/Hours
Open daily in the winter from mid December to mid March, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Snowtubing is open until 8 p.m. Summer operations run May-August.
Mountain Services
Two cross-country ski tracks, nght-lit tubing lanes, rental shop, demo center, cross-country ski school, 2 18-hole championship golf courses, horseback riding, mountain biking and snack shop.
